Wide trail running winter shoes (for snowshoe-ing?)

So I finally got a taste of snowshoe running last night (a 2.5km fundraiser event) and I loved it. Its a good thing I brought a change of socks because my shoes were soaked.

Anybody know of good waterproof running shoes for snowshoeing/trail running?
I was wearing some old trail running new balance shoes… I read here someone sprayed scotchguard. I might try that since I think I have a can of the carpet variety at home.

oh yeah I’m a 9 4E. Most of the “xxx is wider than average” stuff doesn’t cut it.

I’ve used thin neoprene bike booties over normal running shoes when snowshoeing. It works really well, especially if they are a bit higher cut to keep snow out of the top as well…
