I thought these bottles were great. I have about 5 Camelbak Podium Chills, but only 2 Ice versions. I went online a few days ago to buy more and no one has them anymore. Were they just too expensive, or did people think they didn’t work better than the Chills?
In my opinion, they worked twice as well as the Chill and were well worth the price.
I heard the company that produced the insolation(if it was in-fact outsourced) went out of business because the owner of the company died/disappeared… just what I heard though… could be malarky…
Did they become well known as projectiles for rocket launchers? I think the lack of pronounced lip near the top meant they could escape cages more easily than others.

I heard something to this effect. Not so much about the owner, but simply that they were having material supply issues.
I stocked up and have ten sitting in reserve, which should last me a long time. I am on three years and counting on my original three and they show no signs of giving up yet.
The Podium Ice don’t keep liquids as cold as Polar bottles do, though they are a heck of a lot easier to squeeze I find.

They definitely are rocket launchers, but so are the Chills. I just “dummy cord” the bottles in the holders.
My Camelbak rep said something to the same extent: that the company they sourced the insulation from (Ice being a different material than the Chill’s) went under, and they have been looking for a similar replacement since.
I had no idea these were out of production. Damn. I’ve got one and I love it. Riding for an hour or two on a hot day and still getting a cold swig of water is really nice.
