makes no sense to me
Why are the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East.
Stanford and Cal in the Atlantic Coast conference is the one that kills me the most.
They were originally in the Eastern Conference when they were the Charlotte Hornets and first couple of seasons in New Orleans. They had to move to the Western Conference to even up the teams when Charlotte got their new team. I guess because New Orleans is further west than Charlotte.
When the Flyers won their first Stanley Cup (yes, they did - many MANY years ago) they were in the Western Division of the NHL
1972–1974 West Division Teams
- Atlanta Flames
- California Golden Seals
- Chicago Black Hawks
- Los Angeles Kings
- Minnesota North Stars
- Philadelphia Flyers
- Pittsburgh Penguins
- St. Louis Blues
The Leafs and Detroit were also in the NHL Western Conference for years.

From 67-74 the Flyers were in the West divisions! And were the Penguins!
