Who's still riding Time RXS pedals? Why or why not?

Perhaps it’s just me but I see fewer of these on the road. I’m considering changing…but I don’t want to.

I have been a Time pedal user since 1987 and I’ve been on the RXS Carbon (and Carbon Ti) pedals for ~ the past 5 years. I skipped the Iclic generation after hearing so many so-so reports about them. I am now at a point where I either need to replace my existing RXX pedals. I am on the fence as to whether to make the switch to the new Xpresso, or stick with the tried and true RXS.

Still using, they work, light and I am cheap why change for the sake of changin…

I’m still riding mine and as I recall Tom demerlys trisports u. Review gave th iclics a big meh and basically said there was no reason to switch.

I been riding Time pedals since 1988. I currently have the Carbonfiber Iclic pedals which work very well for me and don’t seem much different than the Iclic ones.

Still got mine from 2007. No issues and see no reason to change.

Ride time on mountain and road but i heard the same thing about the i clics riding the time ti carbons and like them wife is riding shimano
.

I was riding them until 2 weekends ago. Was in a road race, came out of the saddle after a turn, and proceeded to have a catastrophic pedal failure. I lost about 80% of the pedal, managed to not crash, bruised a rib on the steerer tube, and bruised my hammy on my seat. A little bit of research shows that this kind of failure is pretty normal for these pedals, Which is too bad as I really liked them. I refuse to ride a pedal that can kill me while riding!

I’m still using them too. I’m happy with them, they are easy to click into and secure. I have them on my road bike and TT bike, so to change would require two sets of pedals.

All in all the RXS has been a good pedal. My only gripe would be that the pedal body area that interfaces with the cleat wears somewhat quickly creating ‘play’.

Been on Time sine about 1990. My trainer still has the old school two-piece Time cleats. I retired those because I always found them to be a bitch to get into and the front cleat can wear fast. Neither of these concerns are problems on the trainer. I’ve been on RSX since they came out. Totally fine (what do I know, having graduated from the old Times). I needed some new cleats last year and Bonktown (now Chain love) had the pedals (plus cleats) for about the same price as cleats alone. I bought two pairs. So I’m set with RSX for awhile. Cleats wear slowly, good click in and out. What’s not to like - except that crash report above. Hmmmm…

The fact that Time kept them in their line after introducing the Iclic series and will continue keep in their line with the introduction of the new Xpresso series says a lot about the popularity of the RXS series. However, if the Xpresso is better received than the Iclic was, I wonder how much longer we’ll see the RXS.

I bought my first pair of Time Ulteam RXS titanium pedals in 2006 and 30,000 miles later they are still working fine. I did send them to Time last year for new bearings and I had to replace the little spring like wire that is held on by two screws behind the rear latching mechanism and those two things were done by Time for free (Kudos) I also have a pair on my tt bike with much less mileage. I was considering the Iclic’s but with the cleat issues stayed where I was and could not be any happier.

I am curious about the Expresso 12’s but will wait to see how well they work but if no better I’ll just keep adding miles to the RXS’s.

I am still on Time Impacts. I have two paris of those and I also run Time Atac’s on my mtn and cross bikes. I was on the old Time Criteriums before that, which was a long time ago. When it comes time to replace I will stick with Time. Luckily the RXS cleats work with the Impact pedals so no need for an upgrade anytime soon.

Same here. Haven’t tried RXS yet. I briefly rode LOOK type pedals when I started cycling and found TIME much more agreeable.

I had 2 sets of the RXS and they were pretty good. The Ulteam RXS were amazing from a weight standpoint - I believe 1/4 lb lighter than my DA pedals. In the end I switched back to full spd-sl pedals on all my bikes. The lateral movement and float on the RXS pedals was what caused me to shy away from them. Cheers

Same. I love them, but it’s getting harder and harder to find parts locally. So, i’ll likely switch soon b/c my cleats are just about worn down to the nub.

I have ridden Time pedals since 1989. Still on RXS. Too expensive to change. I have two bikes and can’t see buying two sets of pedals and cleats unless I absolutely have to change.

Time pedal user since 1986 when teh Equipe first came out with Lemond using them. (I still have those by the way…) I have used all the models and the RXS is so far the best in my opinion. Almost no difference from the Impacts, except lighter. The RXS is easier to clip in than the i-clics.

One good thing I love about Time pedals is their customer service. I once sent them six pairs of pedals so they could re-tighten the axle. Mind you the axles weren’t loose at all but I got recall notices that they could get loose. Sent it to them and had it back within two weeks - freshly tightened and lubricated. Also, after a crash in Rev3, I lost a part of my i-clic. Sent the pedal to them too and they replace the part.

love Time pedals.

riding rxs carbon, love them.
