I just know who got second…
Kuendig was second? Incredible!!
Windy as all hell out there (and getting hot too)! “Mark in FL” and I had a death-ride back home to cap off a very hot, windy 60-mile day… enjoyed cheering from all over the course. I can’t tell whether I got a rockin’ tan or if I’m just very very dirty…
Congrats, Dave! You looked really strong! Hope you enjoy your time in MIA. =)
It is an incredible venue and last year it was hot as hell as well. I remember being so surprised about how hot it got on the run course even though it was mid-November.
I was pretty bummed about missing MiamiMan this year but spoke with Rob at MultiRace and will be returning to the race in 2006.
I too am curious to who won this year!
Ciao,
Best thing is that we don’t have burrs here… heehee =)
Look forward to seeing you back here next year!

Lauren,
I still have a few thorns from the sandspurs stuck on my hands! Thanks to you and Herbert for the help out there.
Do you know who won this year?
Ciao,
Darin Shearer - - 4:06ish
Dave - - 4:22ish
Dave said he came out of the water about 1 min ahead (was surprised someone stayed with him 3/4’s of the way) and lead thru mile 20ish, when 3 people passed him. Then rode alone the rest of the way. First half of the run he thought he held 6:30’s then ballooned up close to 7s.
Felipe,
Make some calls and find out, will ya? ![]()
Glad to see Darin win. We train together here in gainesville and always find each other on the race course.
Last year I ran esperately scared of him on the run as I know how fast he can run.
I was 5 + min ahead of him 6 miles to the end and still thought he was going to catch me. His running is incredible.
Ciao,
I can’t find his number! AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Paulo - that takes too much time.
Slowtwitch is the fastest way to answer one’s question, faster than even a google search!
Ciao,
You’re right, we already know
4:06 is FAST!
“I still have a few thorns from the sandspurs stuck on my hands!”
Better that they are stuck in your hands than somewhere else still… =)
“I can’t find his number! AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!”
Bad coach!!! =)
**“I can’t find his number! AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!” **
I just PM’ed his number to you.
What were you last year - 4:09ish?
Yeah, I was 4:09:17.
I did take my foot off the gass in the last few miles when I saw noone was 5min or closer to me, but Darin’s 4:06 is pretty impressive nonetheless.
Glad to see the title will not only stay amongst Floridians, but up here in Gainesville as well.
The way I see it I will let him “borrow” the title until the race next year ![]()
And I did find a thorn in my butt the next morning. My body was in so much pain I never felt that throughout the night stuck on my left buttcheek!

Ciao,
big prop to you for coaching dave kuendig and playing a vital role in getting him a exceptional 2n’d place ovr’all @ the miami-man. (his first 70.3 distance) i was fortunate enough to meet him and his girl yesterday while being a volunteer for select athletes and patient spectator… again, good job!!
“…while being a volunteer for select athletes”
How exactly does that work? ![]()
Darin won the HOT Olympic triathlon up here in August. My wife told me how he was nice enough to play with my son after the race. They had one of those makeshift shower setups at the finish and the boy was playing in the water to cool off. Apparently Darin was nice to share. I finished…um…a few minutes later. My excuse is that he was in an earlier wave. Good on him.
