Who will win IMC?

Looking at the list this year it looks like:

Tereza Macel will have a good shot at defending, but what about the men? Kieran Doe looked strong at calgary 70.3.

Jonnyo!!

I will try to win but first I must put the slicks on my mountain bike.

Men:
Paul T… (cant spell last name)

Women have a deeper more competetive field, men were more midpackers

Heather Wurtele

Paul Tichelaar, has a good shot. Very strong on the bike,

Last I heard Paul was still recovering from his injury.

Please tell me that Tereza is not doing IMC. She just did Embrunman last weekend. She’s at the pointy end of Elite Women’s tri and it would be a shame to see her flame out in the long term by doing back to back IMs, especially after Embrun.

Zyemstev & Wurtele

whoever wins on the run.

Here is a secret. I have been fueling all week with double espresso chocolate shots and at the same time slipping roofies into Penticton’s water supply.

That’s right … Captain Canada for the WIN!!!

I agree, and then Kona 5 weeks later, that’s 3 in 7 weeks! but remember who here coach is!

I would wager on a duel between Macel and Wuertele for the women.

For the men, Chris Lieto.

It would be nice to see drTommy and Jonnyo challenge too, as they have homefield advantage.

Tichelaar? Maybe, but I don’t recall him ever racing full IMs?

It’s MATT Lieto, the younger brother of Chris Lieto. Both very good athletes, but if Chris were here, he’d be pretty much a slam dunk to win it.

Whoops. Only looked at the last names. That changes the handicapping significantly. Glad I did not wager.

I m out of the race unfortunately , i have a dentist appointement on that day and could not get it move.

Tom and kieran should have a good time on the bike…victor will be hot on the run…should be a exciting day.

Very good woman field also, should be interesting!

That’s a blatant lie. Your dentist is “otherwise occupied” on that day.

This is Tichelaar’s first IM, but I wouldn’t count him out.
If his achilles is healthy… I believe he has a shot.
However, he dropped out after the bike at Calgary 70.3, and I expect him to do the same at IMC.
Unless he’s secretly running again… but we won’t know til T2!

Other than that, I’m picking Doe/Wurtele.

Jonnyo!!

Jonnyo? That dude is still racing? I thought he just posted on forums these days?!

Don’t discount Matt Lieto… He has had a tough year with some bad luck and illness, but the dude can ride and will be right in the mix if he can run close to 3 hours!

I heard that Jonnyo has a dentist apointment at 3:30 pm. He told his dentist that this should provide 10 minutes to clean up and get over to the office after IMC is done.

Zyemstev & Wurtele

I’m pulling for Viktor Zyemstev because he gave the best victory speech ever at IMCdA. It went something like: " I am happy to be winning, and for the volunteers, and thank you". It was awesome.
