had a convo with some friends and was just a little curious? did richard branson do one? oprah?
The only thing I could think of was you might be able to find them in the celebrity division at the nautica malibu triathlon in cali, or that olympic distance race in the bahamas (can’t describe much more than that, it’s in the back of my head)
Anyway I would like to publicly admit that in my first marathon I ran with my dad, we had a slower time than oprah’s when she ran a marathon. Shameful yes, but it was hard as shit. gotta hand it to the IM folk out there who can do that after swimming for an hour and doing a century ride.
Michael Dell’s wife.
How about Lord Rocco Forte, Great Britain age grouper and mega-rich hotelier…
Otherwise it’s gotta be “Slowman”
David Duchoveny has done Malibu several times. Mmm, loves me some Spooky Mulder.
I’m pretty sure it’s jonnyo
.
x2 Susan Dell.
Susan is a co-founder and Chairman of the Board of the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation. As the driving force behind the Foundation, Susan is dedicated to supporting programs that positively impact children’s lives around the world through the Foundation’s health and education initiatives. In addition to her business and foundation roles, Susan competes in marathons, triathlons (She completed Ironman Hawaii in 13.5 hours with a broken toe) and many cycling races. Forbes estimates Michael Dell’s net worth at $24.2 billion. Brad
Yep, me thinks Auntie Susu wins it. Unless Mr.a Mac or Microsoft guy suddenly wants to give it a tri.
Mrs. Ianpeace, aka, Alexandra Paul!
I believe Will Ferrell has done a race or two also.

Highest profile is sooo different than richest.
i.e what percentage of the world knows them and knows that they did (or still do) triathlon?
Suggestions for the highest profile???
Simon Whitfield (first gold medalist)?
Macca?
Normann or Faris (since it seems EVERY German knows who they are)?
Blazeman?
The Grip?
The Man?
Julie Moss?
Rick and Dick Hoyt?
Damn, it is an interesting question.
As far as ricest, it has to be one of the Waltons (Wal Mart). He is a very good triathlete and nice guy.
According to Forbes, Rob Walton’s net worth is “only” $16.7 billion as of 2007. He participated in the 1986 Ironman Triathlon in Hawaii, finishing 510th out of 1,039.
Sue’s (and Michael’s) net worth still in the lead…
Brad
Chuck Norris, he has done every Ironman twice!
He did Kona swim with one arm, did a wheelie the whole bike , and ran bare foot.
Has Michael Dell done a tri? If not, then the full amount of his $$ doesn’t really count.
But like someone above said, high profile is very different (and more interesting) than richest.

I think one of the DuPonts raced for a while and sponsored team Foxcatcher in the late '80s and early '90’s. Probably not in the billions, but plenty of millions.
High profile = Adrian Fenty (mayor of Wahington DC) is a triathlete.
Celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito is likely one of the highest profile triathletes. He was the subject of the NBC reality show “The Restaurant” and is apparently a pretty good AGer.
Good point Cath - too many folks make the mistake of thinking that fame equals wealth. If that Walton guys has 16+ billion then Alexandra and I not in the running or on the same planet for that matter!! Take a zero off and we’re 16 million - nope not even close. Take another off and were at 1.6 million - still not making the grade. Between Alexandra and I - we might be able to amass 16 million pedal circles and swim strokes by omega time - we’ll just hope for that for now.
Ian
If that Walton guys has 16+ billion … Take a zero off and we’re 16 million
Ummm, It’s a little tougher than that to turn 1 million into 1 billion
Rocco DiSpirito of the 7:23 time at St. Croix last year?
