Damn, that shit’s hilarious. I’m going to take a guess and say that the impeller is the quick-release skewer. Ullrich’s site was similarly funny during le Tour.

On ZDF? I saw that also. After the second flat he tried to take the (borrowed from support) clincher off to save time but ended up throwing the front wheel into the Lava fields cause he was so angry. I guess that was the ‘game over’ point cause it looked like he’d reached the edge emotionally. A shame really, it would have been fun to see Norman vs. Faris.

As someone who derives a good portion of his income from translation, the hilarity of machine translations is very heartening. I’m really glad they still suck and hope it takes many more years, or never, before machines can handle serious translation tasks. Although, in my particular corner of the field, university-educated Chinese are essentially playing the role of machines.

He dropped out so he could watch the ironmanlive broadcast. On the course he kept hearing about this “guy on the right, eating his mike, and talking over the other speakers” … and he just had to see it to believe it.
That pic of Norman is a pic I’ve known all too well all year long…
