Who can make a custom tri suit or alter one?

My son is starting to race draft legal triathlons and I need to get a one piece suit for him. He’s tall and very slim (5’7" and 105 lbs) so none of the standard size suits offered by Sugoi, Kiwami or Champion Systems fit (we’ve tried them all). Any ideas on what I can do … get a talented tailor to modify a suit or is there someone I can give dimensions and they custom make a suit from scratch? Kinda out of ideas here. Thanks!

I use Epix Gear… have you tried theirs on yet? I’m thinking they have had a youth size too. A mens small would probably bee too big in the waist and shoulders. I thought they had some youth Sizing too. I’d contact them. Their customer service is excellent.

You can check my blog for photos of it. The fit overall is pretty good and it’s been as or more comfortable than any other trisuit I’ve owned at 70.3 and a 5-1/2 hour training ride in it so far. I really don;t notice it… which is exactly what a trisuit should do.

What is the fit issue? Since you have three suits already, tailoring one of them might be fairly straight forward. If you or one of your friends sew, you or they will know what to do. A local tailor who will work on swimsuits, dance or cheer outfits will know what to do. I’ve made alterations myself and had tailors add panels or zippers for less than $50.

I’m shocked that Kiwami did not fit, as that’s somewhat the profile of the lines. Have you contacted Andre or tried a couple of sizes? The material is quite flexible.

Yes … we’ve been in contact with Olivier at Kiwami and he was excellent in sharing samples to try on. My son has very slim hips and skinny legs (14’ circumference on his quad). Everything comes up fitting loose on his lower torso and tight on his upper torso as he’s a swimmer. Optimally, he needs a small top and xsmall bottom in the one piece suit. I contacted a few tri suit manufacturers in China and they’re willing to make a one off suit based on his dimensions for about $160 US before shipping.

Wow, he must be tough to fit. Good luck!

ZeroD… ? My super skinny 7 year old has a suit in the 6 year old size .

JLVelo does mixed top and bottom sizing and may customize. They supply some of the local junior cycling teams so should have a handle on the sizing. I am not sure if they do tri pads in the suits.
