Wow, TD is getting hammered!
I agree, too bad they couldn’t have met later on
Its not a ranking of who is the most dominant in their sport, but rather a ranking of who is the most athletic. I’d take it to be if you had to pick people to compete in an unknown sporting event who would you pick.
Lance. He’s the package.

“Do people here know who Schumi is?”
You mean Mr. Four-in-a-row? That guy’s the man. Putting him in the current Ferarri is a near-perfect blend of man and machine. I went karting this weekend, and pretended I was wearing that red helmet…
JPM’s a whiny b*tch, by the way.
One of the things I think is cool about triathlon is its inherent international “flavor” and the fact that if you’re into it, you know when Aussies are competing against Germans and Brazillians and Swedes and Canadians, etc., etc. etc. It’s truly an international sport that has resisted “Americanization.” (I.e., “we’re going to hold a ‘world championship’ but we aren’t going to invite teams from other countries.”)
Hey Francois, how can you understand that when Jonny Wilkinson, key member of the Rugby Union World Cup winning team is beaten my a 14 year old football player that hasn’t been heard of outside his home country. OR where a "world all round gymnastic champion beats a man who won “Olympic gold in '92, '96, and '00, and 10 World Championship gold medals since 1991”?
This poll is so insular that it should really be entitled "Vote for the best male athlete in the world that is American or plays an American Sport.
What I’d like to know is why Brian Lara isn’t even mentioned. Loads of baseball, but not a single cricketer.
Cricketer? Is that like a beekeeper?
Oh, and another thing…
Most people have no idea about the incredible physical fitness required to withstand the g-forces of F1 racing. They don’t realize 1) that those cars can do zero to 100 mph and back to zero in about five seconds, 2) the cars can pull about four lateral g’s, 3) the effect that those g’s have on one’s body, and 4) the physical fitness and mental preparation it takes to tolerate such abuse for an hour and a half (the average time of an F1 race.) For those in the know, Schumi’s training regimen is legendary.
He is truly an “athlete” in every sense of the word.
And JPM’s a whiny b*tch. Did I already say that? ![]()
Hey, when it comes to endurance, there’s no contest between cricket and triathlon. Ironman lasts a few hours. A test match lasts 5 days, and you don’t have a clue who is winning the whole time. But they do stop for lunch. Most civilised;-)
That reminds me: doesn’t Ralf ride too?

Don’t forget drinks breaks and tea! Always the highlight when I used to play. But you have to go in when it rains and they let you stop when it gets dark - it’s not exactly hard core is it? ![]()

Ha! thats true - I was halfway through a reply trying to tell you how easy it really was and I had to give up because I was confusing myself!

What do mean we can’t write in Mr. Tibbs?
