They are both proven athletes and allowing them to not worry this far out I think is a great move. This should allow them to maybe cut back on their travels and focus on training. Now they just need to build great teams around them.
It’ll be Simon’s last Olympics for sure. Would love to see him pull off another Oz.
Wasn’t there some huge controversy regarding Canada tri basically screwing over some dude who was younger.
The Findlay selection is a good one for Canada. She’s the real medal hope here if she can get healthy and now she can just focus on getting healthy and peaking for London rather than chase meaningless racing just to make the team. Of course, Simon is always an outside shot at a medal. If nothing else he should be able to provide some leadership and mentoring for Findlay on handling the entire event. Racing well in the Olympics is far different from any world cup, with all the associated distractions. Simon knows how to put all that aside and focus on the task at hand and will be invaluable for Findlay, and of course, he’s probably a better medal hope than Brent of Kyle, but Kyle has been improving a lot after his surgury last year…you never know.
