White saddle turning yellow (no pee on it. . .yet.)

I’ve got a specialized saddle that is slowly turning yellow. I got it last year and it is slowly turning yellow from use.

Anyone else have this problem, and solved it? And no, I have yet to pee on it.

bump. same thing happening to my white specialized saddle…

It’s from sweat… if it’s yellow already, it’s probably already too late. But to prevent it, wipe down the saddle regularly with some kind of antibacterial cleaner.

I have a Specialized Tritip which is also getting yellow.

Does this happen w/all white saddles or is this limited to Specialized?

What kind of cleaner would you suggest? I just got a sweet Specialized Toupe Team Saddle for Xmas. It’s white, actually like a pearl white and I want to preserve its color for as long as possible.

Some kind of lysol all-purpose/kitchen cleaner works best for me!

But we ALL know that your saddle should not get dirty at all, because if you’re sitting on the saddle, it means you’re not sprinting or climbing, and thus too slow for a white one :stuck_out_tongue:

Windex for saddles and bar tape. No need for harsher products. Might be too late to get your color back…so in the future, just a quick spray/wipe after each ride.

Bleach?

Definitely not bleach.

Thought so, just making sure.

How about a neoprene cover for training rides? You can always take it off when needed for bling bling reasons.

Is it leather? if so, a quick wipe with some diluted rubbing alcohol, or a wetnap. Even acetone - this is often used to clean shoes. Then put some leather conditioner on it, and you’re good to go.

I had the same issue, excessive use of Assos cream discolors the saddle, it seeps through

+1 on a white Specialized Alias with 12 months

I have the same thing happening to a one year old white Fizik Arione. Just an ever so slight yellow’ish tinge is starting to show up. It’s very faint. From a distance you can’t see it at all, but up close you can. Killer saddle though. Best and most comfortable saddle that I have ever ridden.

Also (from experience), be sure to wash new cycling shorts before using them with the white saddle. Not good. My tri-tip isn’t so white anymore
