if you were riding tubeless, and you were riding vittoria, and you were road/crit racing, which tires would you choose? and, let’s also assume you were riding 28mm tires (or even 30mm, but at least 28mm).
If i was doing mostly crits and mostly on well groomed courses in nice weather, i’d do the Corsa Speed. Free laps make that an easier choice.
If I was doing more road races or racing in a place with frequent rain or dirty courses, i’d do the regular Corsa for the extra protection, even though they are slower. Chasing on in a road race after flatting sucks.
edit: I’m talking about the most recent edition of the Vittoria tires and not the pre-graphene or the G+ 1.0 ones.
The Corsa G2.0 TLR, unfortunately they only come in 25 and 28 right now. The foldable Corsa G2.0 TLR comes in 23,25,28,30 and 32. I use the foldable with latex in a 32 on my Wi.de when riding it on the road, its a pretty nice ride. If they made the Corsa Control G2.0 in a 32 that would be what I would ride on the Wi.De. for non-gravel. I like that tread comes down more on the sidewall.
Only Tubeless 28 options are Corsa G2.0 and Corsa Control G2.0, for 30 Corsa Control G2.0, Bicyclerollingresistance tests then at 1/2 watt difference for 25mm
rob_bell is exactly right.
why, are you going to start doing some road races/crits?
rob_bell is exactly right.
on vittoria’s website they list item numbers. i take it that the tire i’m looking for is Corsa G2.0, which is the TLR Foldable, in 28mm, and the item number is 11A00096.

these aren’t actually for me. well, some are. i’m building up a bike for andy trouard, and my major need is for that bike. but i also have a bunch of wheels to build up into rideable units and i don’t mind giving up a watt for a tire less likely to flat. so, speed, yes, but those 7 watt tires are a little thin for the riding i do.

Yeah, that’s what I’d pick if the Speed is too fragile or it gets wet.
I run Corsa Speeds on my crit bike. One season and they are looking a little used, I will either run Corsa TLRs or conti tires this year.
I’ve spent some time on Corsa Controls too, I prefer the speeds.

Corsa Speeds are really fast. Corsa’s are…not. So that presents a dilemma because by going with Corsa’s you are giving up a lot. I think the advice you have been given is basically good but there’s another option too. Corsa Speeds are actually pretty flat resistant when new but have very thin rubber that doesn’t last long. You could also run Corsa Speeds and then change them every few races – swap them to training wheels until you can see the casing coming through then toss them.
GP5000’s blacked out with a Vittoria sticker on them. 😂

It sure doesn’t. I use Speeds on my race wheels for outdoor track, and I’ll go through at least two rear tires per season. And track races aren’t long.
Out of curiosity, Why would you be running anything other than gp5000 S TR?
I’ve thought those are usually the consensus fastest tires (with good flat protection)

What the pros do. Run something else, just remove/black out the label.
-
Zero reason to run a 28 or 30mm for a crit. Also, you plan on using 30 or 32 mm wide rims?

There are crits and road races for amateurs’? In the US? I thought usac had gotten rid of them.
