Which Trainerroad Workout to do?

Came off a long distance 1/2 & IM season. Planning on focusing on sprints and olympics next season. Just signed up with Trainerroad. What would be a good workout plan to get focused on the upcoming short distance season. Race season usually starts late May early June. Was looking at the 40k time trial series but not sure if I should do a Build series first or a Base series or the 40k?

This is slowtwitch. We all do the FTP test EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. At 6W/KG.

Damn straight. Dont be a pussy. Ride till you puke, eat something, then keep riding.

Seriously though. Dont waste your time on the trainer - do as much hard stuff as you can (close to FTP and a little above) as often as you can. Depends on your recovery and all, but work your ass off.

I use workouts like Mt Hope. I think it’s like 5 x 10 minutes @ FTP or something like that. Trainer road has been a damn fine tool for some good indoor training and some badass offseason gains in cycling.

The typical progression we recommend, as prescribed by our USAC Level 1 Coach, is: Base - Build - Specialty. Given that you’re coming off of long distance tri’s, I would say to jump straight into our new and improved Sweet Spot plans, skipping the traditional base. From there, Build, and then 40k TT would be a good option for raw FTP improvements and “hour power” gains.
