I’m doing my first IM next year and I want to get a tatoo. I really want to get it now but I think I have to wait until after I finish. Whadaya think??? I’m torn between getting the MDot or 140.6. The MDot is pretty lame because of all the lamerz have one so I think the 140.6 is better but not many people know what that means and I want everyone to know that I’ve done IM.

I would just buy 20 or 30 of the finisher t-shirts being sold post race and wear one each day for the rest of my life. It costs about the same as the tatoo and will still appease the ego. Plus if you get the finishers jacket, hat, and socks you can have something visible year round! 
or, you could get a penis tatooed on your forehead…this will say to everyone you know, “hey i’m a dickhead!”.

Hey, if you can plan enough to finish an ironman then you can plan for the post race weight gain. That’s why you buy 20 to 30 shirts. You can get a broad range of sizes in case you pack the pounds on or develop an eating disorder 10 years down the road.

Don’t laugh, a guy at my gym did this and walks around with an imperious attitude, ordering people off of machines with the explanation “Hey, I’m an Ironman fatass.” This is the same guy who also races Clydes when he isn’t one and his rationale is “I like to win stuff.” Most people make fun of him and I openly mock him to his face.

Don’t mean to bust your bubble, but finishing an IM is no big deal nowadays. Anyone can finish, few can qualify. Save it for the day you qualify or don’t get one. Just my opinion.
