I am looking to buy a spinerval dvd for this winter. 2012 will be my second season of triathlon with 2011 just getting my feet wet. My 2012 plans consist of some off road tri’s, olympic, a few sprints, time trials and a maybe an HIM if my work schedule doesn’t get goofy over the summer with my focus right now being the off road tri’s that are early in the season… I LOVE the bike but HATE the trainer. I will be on the trainer from December through March so I need something to keep me motivated while on the bike.

Can buy a 9 pack of all of the videos for $85
.
Look for the aero base builder set of 5 to start out with.
They are fairly moderate and will get you going. When you need to go harder just up the intensity.

What do you think of the Sufferfest videos? Very good price and it looks like it would be more “fun” than watching others on a trainer.
Also, are they easily burned to a DVD to be watched with a tv?
I have about 4 of them. Each one is different which is really nice. Can choose the video based on what you’re looking for that particular day. Had they offered the package deals when I first started downloading them, I would have gone that route.
I just use my computer to watch them but I really don’t think it would be too difficult to burn to a DVD for watching on a TV.
Sufferfest vids are way better than Spinervals. I have all of the 'Fest videos and there are a few that are really good for building FTP. Specifically “The Hunted”, “A Very Dark Place” and “Hell Hath No Fury”.
Awesome, I’m inspired to give it a go.
Thanks!

agreed. They have a unique ability to leave you dead but still wanting more.
Ditch the spinervals at take a look at the sufferfest videos. Good times and inexpensive.
I love the Sufferfest videos - they’re very entertaining, good workouts, and a great value. TrainerRoad is starting to integrate the Sufferfest videos into their software, and I found that the combination of the two is really awesome.

I purchased “Angels” and “Local Hero” and have been thinking about getting “Hell Hath No Fury”. Do you have a preference between that and “The Hunted” and “A Very Dark Place”?
I typically rotate between “A Very Dark Place” and “Hell Hath No Fury”. It’s basically the Slowtwitch recipe for improving FTP - 5x4’ (AVDP) & 2x20’ (HHNF)
Yeah, Very Dark Place is 5x4’, Hell Hath No Fury is 2x20’, Hunted is 1x20’, plus a couple shorter interval sessions.
HHNF is currently inflicting the most damage on my legs.
There is a slightly more methodical review of the power training aspects of the videos by someone who knows what they’re talking about here http://www.thesufferfest.com/uncategorized/the-fest-videos-really-do-work-pez-cycling-review/
Even compared to the other excellent sufferfests, HHNF is unspeakably awesome. It is the only trainer experience that I have ever actually enjoyed, and there is a magic moment in the second 20 where you feel inspired and motivated to attack with anger as if you were in the race. Like truly everything depends on attacking with everything you have righty at that moment.
HHNF, Angels and AVDP get my vote.
I’m actually going to add a vote for Revolver. Great for VO2 max work. Have HHNF, Angels, Local Hero and Revolver and they are all good. Like the other poster, really like the trailer for HHNF. I have 20 different Spinervals but the only ones I ever use anymore are the Virtual Reality but do my own workout and the ultra conditioning when I’m being lazy about coming up with a workout. My other favorite trainer video is the 2007-2010 Ironman World Championship videos- I picked up the past years for $5 in Kona this year and for all NBC’s faults I still like having them in while doing my workout.
