Which Spinerval DVD To Buy?

With winter approaching, I thought it might be a good idea to do some higher intensity-lower duration riding on the trainer to increase my speed for HIM and IM distance races. Which spinerval DVD would be good for that? Currently, my best HIM bike split is 2:49 and my best (and only) IM bike split is 6:48 (yes, I know it’s slow).

Thanks,
Paul

I’m not sure if any short tapes are going to improve your long course bike times, but I think the endurance films “Rides” DVDs are better than the spinervals dvd’s. The spinervals are good, too, but the endurance films DVD’s feel like going on a difficult 1-hour group ride and they have good music.

If you are serious about getting faster, try Totally Time Trial (#14?). Be prepared to suffer. It’s about 1.5 hours long, with 4x15 minute intervals.

I’ve done a bunch of the spinervals dvds - if you were just going to buy 1 DVD, I would say get the 3-hr long one (I forgot what it was called). You can split it up and just do sections of it, or go for the gold and do the whole thing!

The music is definitely not that great - I would suggest choosing the non-music option (you still hear him talking) on the dvd and listen to your own stuff

I think its called the century ride. its a good workout and there is some added visual inspiration

It’s called “tough love”
.

Spinervals has a longer one now, about 5 hours. I havent done the whole thing yet, I dont really have a reason for a ride that long in the winter but you can break it up into sections and there are a few hotties in it too.

Yeah. It’s called the “Hardcore 100”. I’ve done the whole thing a couple of times and I think it really sucks. Just the same sets over and over. I know it’s hard to be creative for spinning but that one was really bad. Maybe b/c it was 5hrs long…

Have Mercy, The Sequel is 2 hours and an excellent workout. Very tough. The time goes pretty fast.

Tough Love is 3 hours and also very difficult, there are a couple bits where you stand and spin in a tiny gear (39x23 or similar)…much harder than it soundS! But its 3 hours…mentally its tough to get through. i usually turn the music off and listen to my own music.

Both are worth the investment.
