Your original question is an intersting one- “Which is the biggest IM race in the world (not M-dot).”

The strictest answer to this (and I’m not razing you Ma’am/Sir) is: None.

Since WTC owns the moniker “Ironman” there is no such thing as a “not M-dot” Ironman.

They are awfully picky about pointing that out…

Haha, funny answer!

I didn´t ask what WTC thinks… I’m not razing you Ma’am/Sir but To me an Ironman race is a race with 3.8k swim 180k bike and 42.2k run and i don´t care if a company owns the name

So for all the word nazis out there, my question was…

What big races are held over the distance where you swim 3.8k, bike 180k and then run (or walk) 42.2k, i think it´s called triathlon or do someone own that name too?

Roth?

Great Floridian?

Roth most likely but there is also Embruman which is quite tough on top of it.

Fred.

How many people race at the Great Floridian?

Roth is most likely the biggest without competition.

They have about 400 each year at the Great Floridian
.

ok, define biggest. Biggest in number of racers? Biggest in fan numbers (Roth hands down). What do you mean?

In participants, Roth is way ahead too…sold out again this year…with teams etc…probably around 2500 entrants. On par with any IMNA race.

Almere used to be big with 800 or so entrants. Not sure if it’s still the case.

Embrun reaches 800 to 1000 every year.

I can’t wait to do Roth some year. Better start brushing up on mine German.

Try bayerische instead…or whatever it is they speak…but it’s not german…

Jo moi! freili!

Just back from Roth. Absolute wonderful race. Bigger then alot M-dot races.

2500 single starters
1500 relay starters (500 teams)
900 volunteers
150.000 supporters (must have been less though)
