Hola Peeps-
I just bought the Polar 520 from REI & am having second thoughts as to whether I picked the right one or whether there is a better one out there.
I’m in the process of buying a new steed and liked the idea that this Polar 520 is SUPPOSED to be a bike computer also.
Any thoughts from other 520 owners or anyone out there wanting to convince me to buy another brand or model?
Thanks,
RD
What do you want out of it? How are you going to use it?
If you just want a good bike computer that will show HR also, there are other options.
Do you want to use it for running also? Or in races?
Are you a data freak? Do you want to download and analyze your HR and bike data?
I have a S710i (just like the newer S720i’s) and think it’s great. I like being able to use it all the time. I also have a Timex S + D for running. I like being able to analyze my data after workouts and races. I think the Polar software is very good, and makes a great training log if I wear the HRM for all my workouts.
The S520 is a decent HRM with bike functions, but it doesn’t have as much memory as the S720i, and doesn’t sample as the same rate. Max on the S520 is 15secs. I think, it’s 5 on the S720i. Both the S520 and S720i have wireless cycle functions which can be tricky to get setup and working right.
