Which Floor pump should i buy?

Hello my budget is ~$100-150, which of these should i get? I have road bike with gp5000/bytyl tubes, and TT bike with Hed jet disc Corsa Speed TLR/Latex tubes. I want pump which is precise and will last long.

1.Bontrager Super Charger Floor Pump. $95 (On sale right now)

2.Specialized Air Tool Pro Floor Pump. $120

3.Topeak JoeBlow Pro X Floor Pump. $100

4.Silca Pist Floor pump. $145

Thanks.

Silca. Based on your list I think it is the only one that will last a LONG time and stay accurate.

I’ve had my Silca pump for over a year, it’s used at least 4x a week and you can’t tell that it isn’t brand new.

I have SILCA pista that is 49 years old this year. Still a daily user. Not the fastest but a really good pump.

Why not the lezyne as I owned the specialized air tool for many years as well as the joe blow both eventually broke down. The lezyne steel is $50 and better than both those by far. Easier to pump and the head is much better.

  1. Silca (but I much prefer the Superpista which is not in the suggested price range)
  2. Lezyne Alloy …love it
    .

which one of lezyne is good?

I would go with the Silca Pista of those. I will say you can’t beat the $49 Topeak JoeBlow Sport III. It really is superb pump for the price. I still often pair it with the Silco Hiro for the disc though.

I like the Alloy Floor Drive

And lezyne has good valves for discs

I have a $20 pump from performancebike.com that works great.

Edit: I just looked up what I have, it’s a Topeak JoeBlow Sport III Floor Pump, Yellow. My receipt says it was $29.95 and not $20.

I had a Topeak Joe Blow. It is a good pump. I demoted that to garage use and now I have a Silca Pista that is my everyday pump. It is a great pump.

x4. Love my Lezyne pump and it’s a good value for the cost.

And here I was complaining to myself how much a bike saddle costs!!

100 bucks for a floor pump? Shit I can go to Home Depot and buy a decent 3 gallon air compressor for that much.

I have a 15 year old $20 Blackburn that still works like a charm.

Yep
I’ve an older model of the Joe Blow and can’t see any reason why I’d spend significantly more if I’m ever in the market for a new one. Sure you might get a more accurate gauge, you might not. And I’d rather my gauge was separate from the pump anyway…so not terribly relevant.

Of the ones on your list it’s Silca, no contest. With the hiro head, if possible.

I’ve also been very happy with Lezyne. For road tires I would consider the alloy travel pump because it won’t take that many strokes to pressure up even with that pump, but it lays flat in a carry-on for travel and weighs less than 2 lbs. Only downsides are a few extra strokes and the one-foot design, which personally doesn’t bother me at all bit some don’t like it. I’m a minimalist I’m some ways and got this pump so I wouldn’t have to have a separate pump just for travel.

I owned a silca from the early '80s that was an excellent pump and finally failed because the aluminum base cracked. 10 years ago I was given a newer one as a gift and found it to be cheap and flimsy. Since the company has been purchased or reorganized or whatever it appears that the new model has all of the nice features of my old beloved pump with some improvements to the base which was kind of an Achilles heel. They deliver mediocre performance for many many years. An entire generation developed strength imbalances from pumping with one hand while holding the chuck on with the other

I tried ordering the Lezyne CNC Digital Drive through my LBS, but they were having a hard time finding one in stock. In my opinion, it is the best looking pump. I own a Lezyne mini frame pump, and it’s worked well for years and years. Aside from the all-metal construction and a nice head, it did seem like it was probably built similar to every other pump. You still get an o-ring on the plunger instead of a nice leather gasket, like the silca. I also couldn’t find a definitive answer on how accurate their digital gauge is at a variety of pressures (since depending on the bike i would like accurate readings from 18psi-100psi).

Anyway, since they were having problems finding one in stock, i decided to cough up more cash and buy the Silca Superpista Digital. It hasn’t arrived yet, but I’m eagerly waiting. It should be plenty accurate for the range of pressures i need. It should also be the last pump I ever need to buy. Honestly, i don’t find it nearly as beautiful to look at as the Lezyne, but I’m hopeful that it performs better.

My other pumps are a Specialized Air Tool Comp I bought back in 2007 that has a Silca presta chuck on it and some red bontrager high pressure pump that I bought a few years ago. The Specialized reads very close to my accu-gage. The bontrager is about 5psi off from 15psi-50psi. My accugage only goes to 60psi, so i haven’t checked it any higher.

Sometimes the little things in life can make you feel really good. A fresh roasted Ethiopian pourover is a much more enjoyable start to the day than the Colombian roast from 7-Eleven. Both get the job done and both are worth the money you pay for them; but one provides a little extra happiness. I look at these pumps the same way. I know that every time I use the Silca it will give me just a little hit of excitement that I don’t get from the Bontrager or Specialized. To me, I think it will be worth the extra expense.

Thanks everyone for reply.
This morning I got an AD email from Silca, "Buy pista foor pump (which was on my list), get hiro chuck for $10!( $55 OFF). Ordered Pump + hiro for $155 total.

That’s my current exact setup, and I love it. That pump is stupid easy to swap out chucks, so you can drop the original on if you want to.

I personally love my silca pumps…I have a superpista that stays at home and use it multiple times per week. I also have the pista (and the matching bag) that I carry in my vehicle and to races, etc. I have had a number of other pumps, and once I had a silca, anything else just doesn’t seem as nice! I do have a toppeak large volume pump for my winter fat biking (way lower pressures)…but I find myself wishing silca made one
