Which custom trisuit company would you choose?

Hey guys,

My team is going to order custom apparel this next year an i am in charge of it. Even know I would like everyone to get the $200 suits and have us look pro, the reality is we do not have an infinite amount of money to work with. It seems like the main company’s in our price range are:

Hincapie
Louis Garneau
Craft
Sugoi (waiting on price quote from them)

We are getting skinsuits not separate tops and bottoms.

Out of these which do you think would be the best. I have read a bunch of good stuff about the hincapie on this sight but have not seen too much on the other ones. I was just wondering if thats because they are not good or whatnot. If you have any complaints or recommendations about any of them i would be happy to hear it.

And no i dont think we can get the ST recommended Desoto’s for our price range.

thank you,
Brad

You might as well shoot DeSoto an email. At worst, you just say no thanks. As a former industry guy, I’d rather have a shot at your biz than have my product automaticly priced out.

If Desoto is what you want, give it a try at least.

If not, Verge is good gear. Cheap too. If you’re north of 100 untis it should be around 75 bucks each. Not bad.

Good luck

.

We just got some stuff from Andre with Kiwami that is great! Awesome customer service as well.

Did you look at Champion System

I am obviously biased because they are a sponsor but they do lovely full custom stuff. Very comfortable and definitely price competitive with the others on your list

Our club suits are from Verge. They’re 2pc - the bottoms are good quality. I like them as much as my off the rack Sugois. The tops are okay - after one season mine has lost quite a bit of elasticity. But overall I’d recommend them.

thank you for your guys suggestions. I have contacted a bunch of them and it looks like we have narrowed our search to two possibilities.

Hincapie’s tri-suit and Louis Garneau’s Tritek Elite Skin. They look to be the two that we are deciding in between. Does anyone have any opinion on either to sway our decision?

Hincapie has mesh and a front zip that should be nice and cool.
LG is fully sublimated and a rear zip.

I did Craft cycling wear and have been really happy with it. They actually have Champion Systems do the sublimation so you get best of both worlds - Craft materials and quality with the low mins and total color/design flexibility of ChampSys. I don’t know much about their tri wear but I’d give it a close look. They just rolled out a new program a month or so ago so make sure you have the most current info from your rep.

The Sugoi one piece suits are beautiful suits. Lots of mesh, a slightly longer leg, swiss made Eschler fabric in the lower legs, silicone grippers, nice stuff. I do work for Sugoi btw…

A lot of it depends on the style you want, your design and your quantities as well as turnaround. Companies like Kiwami (I work with them as well from time to time, hell I work with a lot of companies) are going to work well for very short turnaround semi-custom suits and make killer ITU or rear zipp type suits. In the end it’ll come down to budget+timeline+suit type+customer service. I honestly doubt you’ll be let down by any of the companies you listed as the are all up at the top of the custom food chain.

If you need help with Sugoi let me know although you should have a rep in your area or be able to call in direct.

Good luck on the order.

  1. Hincapie. Great blend of fabrics, long zipper, amazing chamois, best design options by far and away…easily the top suit. Trisuits aren’t that expensive, either.
  2. LG - I like the materials.
  3. Sugoi - meh okay. Have 3x trisuits from them and they are my low end.
  4. Craft makes great apparel. Their custom stuff is not great for triathlon. For cycling it is awesome but the custom tri stuff is low end.
