Ordered an '04 P3 650c in October, shop here in UK said it should be with me in December sometime. At the start of January I phoned up, the guy in the shop said he’s been getting a tale from Cervelo and that it would definitely, definitely be with me by the end of January. Didn’t care too much because the roads here are all covered in salt anyway and I didn’t want to take it out yet. Today I phoned up and the guy in the shop said that Cervelo don’t seem to be bothering welding 650 frames as much as 700 frames at the minute, and the latest was that he just didn’t know when I’d get it.
Have any of you had similar problems with 650 P3s? He offered me my deposit back, should I take it or should I sit it out?
My recommendation (full disclosure: We are a Cervelo retailer who strongly supports the brand) is wait it out. We recently received 2 Cervelo P3’s with 650c wheels so they are happening, albeit somewhat slowly.
And I fully agree, they are worth the wait. It is an incredible bike.
My email to Cervelo was unanswered. Today I phoned their European distributor who knew about me from my UK bike shop, and who said that the frames were in Stuttgart. I was told mine should be with the UK bike shop by Monday (16 Feb) at the latest.
I ordered my P3 (& it’s a 700C) back in November and was told I would also get it by January at the latest. I emailed Cervelo/Gerard and they did respond kindly (It was several days, but I can’t expect them to sit around their computers all the time. They’ve got a business to run:) and were apologetic. The delay at least for me seems to be the components (I ordered the Dura Ace equipped) and not the frame. Anyway according to my LBS I ordered it from ,it should be here by the end of this week. (I’m crossing my fingers!)
