Where to swim in Kansas City?

I’ll be spending a week in KC later this month (staying near the airport) - looking for a place to swim. Any suggestions?

Do you have to stay up north? I am not sure about where to swim up there, most of the better spots to swim are in Southern Kansas City on the Kansas side.

I was going to recommend The Jewish Community Center in Overland Park, but it’s 36 miles from the airport or roughly 40 minutes away.

They have a great Masters Swim class over lunch (12:00-1:00) average about 3,000 yards a class. Range anywhere from 2,800-4,000 yards per class. There is also a Tues. & Thursday morning 5:45-6:45 Stroke & Technique class. Average distance is between 2,000-3,000.

There are now 2 Lifetime Fitness’s in Kansas that both have 25 meter pools and are open 24 Hours a day.

There are numerous 24 Hour Fitness’s in Kansas City, only one up north, in Gladstone and I am not sure they have a pool.

If you can stay in downtown Kansas City that would be better, only because you will not be so far from Overland Park.

You might want to google what pools are in Parkville, MO. This is a nice area that should probably have some swimming pools you can get to.

If you decide to head over to the JCC, send me a PM and I will have you to either Masters or S&T as a guest.

Good Luck!

J,

He said up “up north by the airport”. . .everywhere you gave him is about 1000000 miles away. … . Try to pay attention!

The Gladstone Community Center pool is new and supposed to be really nice…

I’ve used this to swim all over the country. You can almost always find a welcoming group to train with.
