Where do you shop for your running shoes? Are there any online dealers w/ ridiculously low prices? thanks for the help!!
I like Holabird http://www.holabirdsports.com/ and R n J http://www.rnjsports.com/
Both blow away Zappo or RoadRunner and don’t rape you on shipping.
I personally like Roadrunner. If you join the VIP club, their prices are as good as anyone. For $25/yr its worth it…as you get 10% off everything in the store. For reference, I just paid 107.99 for the new Kayanos XII’s. Same price as Holabird Sports.
They also have some great sales and their in-house brand of apparel is good quality and inexpensive.
They also have a great return policy (no questions asked for 45 days).
Of course it helps that I’m in San Diego so I can go to their store.
my current pair was $30 including shipping.
I try to support my local running specialty store. They watched me run and picked out a shoe for me. They also take my used shoes to Guatemala. I would probably save $2-3 from an online retailer after factoring in shipping, but supporting my local store that organizes weekly runs and promotes running in the community is worth the $2 every 3 to 4 months.

sierratradingpost.com is a great outlet, but they’re an overstock place so they won’t necessarily have what you’re after. I just check the site periodically and when they have the shoes I wear at a good price I buy a pair.
i was in the same boat: just got a pair from ebay… brooks adrenalin gts 6 for 67 bucks plus 10 for shipping. Still way less than any other source I’ve found.
Lol! Zappos wants ABOVE list price for my Mizuno Elixirs. $89!!! Even my local store charges less! Holabird is by far the cheapest at $67, cheaper than Roadrunnersports’ VIP price of $76.50. Even if Holabird screwed with you on shipping I’d still be $20 a pair ahead of my local store…if they even carried Mizuno.
Road Runner Sports. You can easily find 10 and 15% off coupons, and occasionally 20%. Combine that with the VIP club, and you get another 10% off, plus Free shipping, and the above mentioned 45 day no questions asked return, even if you wear them. Great sales too; to which the above discounts still apply. It does cost $54.99 annually to belong to the VIP however.
If you are planning on switching brands/models or are a new runner I recommend you go to a running store.

Your post reminded me that I have less than 1K miles of Brooks Glycerin 2.
I looked and found them at RRS for $40 shipped.
Originally I bought my first 2 pairs at a local running store for $100 per.
The next 3, I bought off of zappos, shoebuy, and kellys respectively for around $65 shipped.
Those three stores no longer have the Glycerin 2, which made me nervous so I bought 3 pairs from RRS.
DON’T FORGET TO LOOK FOR COUPON CODES! With less than 2 minutes total effort I saved $20 on one purchase and $12 on another.

Another vote for Holabird.

I agree completely. Sadly, I just moved and there is NO specialty running store in my area now. In fact, I can’t even find a place that sells Asics DS-Trainers. Silly. So I became a VIP member at Roadrunner. I’d rather shop locally, but at least RR is a pretty good deal.

CCF,
What size DS Trainers do you wear? I have a pair in 9.5 that have about 40 miles on them (including IMLP). I don’t really like them. Sell them to you cheap;)
If you like asics, saucony or nike go to
www.denimexpress.com
(scroll down and see shoes near bottom on left)
They also offer free shipping. I can usually get a pair of $130 running shoes for around $90 in my size.
also try ebay - sometimes they have great deals on new shoes
This is easy. Do what everyone does on the Runners World forums does - buy from our forumite, podiatrist, and shoe store owner, Jamie.

use code “preferred0200” to get 20%, and free shipping for any order (pre discount!) above $85. Not to mention, expert advice on shoes, running, foot/running injuries, etc.
Holabird has great prices, even when they can’t list them online (call and ask)…
