Where to buy zipp

Ditto on the Tri-Zone. Have always had good luck with them.

It all changed with a SCOTUS decision in 2007… see here.

Now there is a “rule of reason” test…

?
I was trying to give some valid suggestions on getting some good deals on aero wheels with the flashpoint suggestion.

If it makes you feel better you can punch me in the face though?

Call Patrice Wolfensberger at Swimandtri – **1-877-Swim-Tri (1-877-794-6874) **
she was a great help prior to IM Fl 2008.

I ordered a Zipp Disc on tuesday while driving to the event - she gave me a really great price and the shipping was free (for any order >$75) the disc arrived on thursday in plenty of time to glue the tire and ride before having to have the bike in the corral on friday afternoon.
Great price and great service.

Kevin

do they make zipp 1080 clinchers?

I have seen multiple advertisements saying “Call for best pricing” on Zipps.

http://www.trisports.com/wheels.html for example, says exactly that.

do they make zipp 1080 clinchers?
Yes, they do! I happen to have a set of 2008 Zipp 1080 Clinchers (Shimano or Campy) in stock for 20% off!

Retail price maintainence
And
M.A.P
(min advert price policy)
Are two different things

Zipp appears to be simply requiring their dealers to maintain a minimum advertised price or risk losing the line

That is different to price fixing and retail price maintainence

I’m not a zipp products user but I do work in wholesale distribution and policies such as MAP and no eBay exist because you will always have one customer who tries to get under everyone else and with the power of the web, one rogue advertisement online can lead to a nationL retailer/dealer network of very pissed off customers

Retailer need margins to survive and in this world, a greater margin is achieved by being a larger dealer (buying more) and earning a second or third tier level discount against a retail price which should be somewhat stable

It is these larger retailers, based on buying power, who have the greatest scope to discount so in my mind, MAP is in place to support the small guy
Thanks for posting that explanation of MSRP and MAP. In the case of Zipp, however, they are the same!

That then becomes border line price fixing
