I’d imagine bankruptcy trustees are seeing an increase in business and read recently that it’s not a good time for Porsche dealerships…
I know two people who have given up their initial careers and gone into nursing because of the excellent opportunties in that field. As the baby boomers continue to age, there are huge projected shortfalls in home health care, nursing, etc.
The bulk of new job creation is in the great state of Texas. In 2008, they represent around 8% of the population but over 50% of the new job creation. Over the next 25 years, the population in Texas will reach 50 million. Lots of positive trends for that state.
I am the healthcare business…its amazing to me all the new construction of hospitals in Texas. With money tight, our little company was able to secure a $10M dollar investment from another large company in our business. Trust me, I plan on spending a lot of time in Texas selling our software.
Give unemployment a shot and those jobs look great. My wife and I are trying scrounge money for CNA courses just to get us through.
I’m sure that is true and I don’t mean to knock the people who do these jobs. It just seems that back when companies actually made stuff in the USA, there were better jobs.
Companies make stuff? What is this strangeness you speak of? This is America jack. we produce nothing. We run worthless companies until they are out of money then get the government to give them more money. When that money runs out we give them more money. All the time nothing is being done and we worship our leaders and our own selfish stupidity for being so great and fantastic.
Is anyone starting to be a little bit ashamed of the US?
"I don’t want to sell anything, buy anything, or process anything as a career. I don’t want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold, bought, or processed, or repair anything sold, bought, or processed. You know, as a career, I don’t want to do that. "

For a couple of decades… and especially right after 9/11 until recently. I have a “wait and see” attitude at the moment… but may be even more ashamed in the next year or two…

Man, I thought it was already crowded here! 2.5 more months, then I can move out again! (I won’t say never to return again, but hopefully for much shorter periods.)
