Where does one open water swim in Phoenix/Scottsdale

The past couple,of weeks have made training tough so I want to hit the ground running.

Canyon, saguaro, bartlett, pleasant are the most popular. Some people will ride to them, swim then ride back.

Butcher Jones cove is a bit out of town, but if you want to do a swim/run, it’s a rather brutal 4 mile (2 miles up and back) run from the parking lot up the entry road to the end and back. Some really good hill training, our club used to do that quite a bit. The cove is protected but a bit silty, no motorized craft allowed. Nice 2-300m loop (depending on how the buoys have drifted) to swim around.

Edit: Definitely not a ride/swim. The road out to it is narrow, and people drive it like the hounds of hell are chasing them.

There’s a decent size group heading out to Canyon Lake this Sunday around 2pm.

Haven’t moved there yet. Stuff all packed. That and bike should be there tues.

Looking to head down to train this winter your local 50m pool seems cheap.

I’ll be a member of the JCC, so that is where I’ll train most of my swimming.
