Previously I’ve used it after hard exercise when my leg is in bits. That was bad because it seemed to make it worse. (made the tears bleed for longer/more ?)
Does anybody use it? How and where is it effective?
I can only see myself being able to use it on a rest day if I have a tight muscle i want to loosen up and have ready for the next day.
Deep-heat is a cream you rub on your muscles and it makes them warm. Get it on your balls or in your eyes and you’ll know all about it.
I gather you mean a topical cream of some sort? They don’t do much. If you’ve shredded your legs during a workout the last thing you need is heat. Instead, you might want to consider any of the following:
foam roller
stretching
an ice bath or localized icing to soothe those inflamed muscles
The short answer (and one that athletic therapists will give you) is, “when it works”. I’ve always found that answer kinda flippant but there is truth to it. If heat does nothing, bail. Heat will, of course, loosen up tight muscles but on its own isn’t terribly beneficial. To get more benefit, stretch or roll (or both) after a hot bath or shower. Always make time to stretch after workouts. Have a stretching routine, minimum twice a day, every day. The more the better. In time the tightness should disappear.
