When is it acceptable to pee yourself?

Is it only acceptable to pee yourself when in the running for an overall podium position? AG podium?

Is it ok to pee yourself if you’re a BOPer, but trying to set a PR?

I’m participating in an Oly next week…and I believe I’ll be in the running for an AG podium slot, but also…I tend to have to pee alot and feel that I will need to go at some point during the race…is it ok for me to let it go?

Thank you for your 2 cents.

Wha?

dude, race however you want. Its about your own accomplishments whether you’re 1st or last. Give it everything you have and don’t let anyone else tell you what you SHOULD or SHOULDN’T do.

Unless you are a pregnant 80 year old diabetic with prostate problems, you should be able to hold it for 2 hours.

I stand by my previous comments about peeing during racing. If you are not willing to pee on yourself, then you are wasting your money on a TTbike, zipp wheels, aerohelmet, or anything else that saves you a few minutes. Getting off your bike to pee costs you more time than any one of these things will save you, and peeing on yourself is FREE! My last race :45 seconds separated 3rd-5th place in AG category. Good luck!

Have you considered that you may be over-hydrating if you have to ‘let it go’ during an Olympic? Lots of people make it through a half IM without having to ‘let it go’.

Oh, I fully intend on peeing myself if needs be…I was just wondering what the general consensus was on this topic…

“When is it acceptable to pee yourself?”

When tazed?

Just guessing

If there is the shightest possibility that it will get on a rider behind you, never.

Otherwise, never.

If winning the Tour de France or a marathon or ironman, it’s acceptable to poop yourself.

I never had to pee during a 2 hour race. Hell, you really don’t even need to eat during that time if you don’t want to it’s so short

I’ve never had to “go” in an olympic, but I sure did in my first half.

If there is the shightest possibility that it will get on a rider behind you, always.

Up until you have been potty trained. IIRC - that is about 2 or 3 years old.

This is a game - don’t pee on yourself.

Barry, didn’t you stop to pee at the FBN? that’s why i was able to gap you right?

To the OP, an age group medal is NOT worth smelling like piss! stop and pee, and run like hell to catch up. You will at least have a built in excuse/brag that you had to stop to pee…

p.s. thanks for changing your screen name, for the loooooongest time i thought it meant BMC Master… like you owned a BMC bike and were the master of it or something? wasn’t really sure.

Tim

I have 2 issues with peeing in an Olympic:

  1. Every race is different, but most of the Oly’s that I have done are way too crowded to make sure you won’t hit someone. I’m MOP, though. If you’re a FOP, maybe you can get enough space.

  2. You say you’re going for a podium slot, so we’re probably talking well less than 2 hours from the time you get out of the water to the finish. If you’re at all careful with pre-race hydration, you should be able to hold it that long.

Worry less about #1 and more about #2

No - you gaped me because they let spectators too close to transition and my wife felt she need to talk to me  (take a look at those transition times)

I heard from a few people about the screen name - funny, I never thought about it like that, but I definitely see it now.

Good luck at Quassy - I’ll be down the road at a nice little sprint. Hopefully all the local talent will be racing you and not me…

I pee on myself during long business meetings. No biggie then or during an Olympic distance race. If you’re lucky you can pull an “R. Kelly” on your coworker.

HA she knew you stood no chance after we all decided to attack you from the gun!

i’m torn on the coming results at Quassy… not sure what to expect at this point. training has been up and down lately.

by the sounds of the Quassy 2012 thread… all the ‘talent’ is coming to my race, so i expect a top step out of you at yours.
