I’m sure i’m not alone in feeling like the day is not complete without some sort of dessert; although since I am very diligent in my diet I usually have a cup of decaf coffee with a couple slices of whole wheat toast, Kashi 7-grain cereal w/ yogurt, or brown rice cakes with fruit spread. What do other ST members eat for dessert if you’re watching your diet? Any suggestions on what are good items to eat at night that will not contribute to bad dieting or weight gain; any negatives to what I have been consuming?
I go with a small piece of dark chocolate.
Small, low calorie, and does the trick
Jodi
Sometimes I will cut up a banana on a plate and cover lightly with honey and lime juice it is really good.
Also some sunflower seeds and a few dark chocolate chips takes care of me as well.
I’m with Jodi on the dark chocolate. Or a cup of hot chocolate.
Grapes if I am watching what I eat. The problem is that I can eat 5 lbs at a time.
After a really good workout when I need some calories I make a pit stop at Cold Stone for ice cream with stuff.
I bought some European Sipping Chocolate from Trader Joe’s and I love it. If you make it like the directions say it’s similar to drinking a melted chocolate bar. You can make it as thick as you want. My wife uses less of the mix and it ends up more like hot chocolate. The best part is that the mix only has 90 calories per serving and 5 g of fiber. I highly recommend it if you’ve got a chocolate craving.
I’m with you QRgrrl.
A cup of Ghiradelli’s hot chocolate with some whipped cream. Nurse that ish for an hour.
Pretty much have to have ice cream every night.
a couple of strawberries dipped in dark chocolate.
Peanut butter. Either extra crunchy or the honey flavored. Seems to appease my sweet tooth.
Don’t mention peanut butter! I’m in my 9th day without it and I’m getting the shakes. I calculated my daily caloric intake of peanut butter and it was sick… SICK!
So I’m done with it… for the meantime…
Jodi
This is what I had post IMAZ 2006. And a thick vanilla shake, was pretty slimming as they forgot my blue-cheese topping.

Some truffles with white chocolate, a few scoops of ice cream and great peanut butter tort also do the trick.
Trying for low calorie desserts that taste good is like sex by yourself, it feel sort of good but leaves you craving much more of the real thing…or so they say.
Normally, I don’t eat dessert during the week. I save it up and have something I really enjoy on one day of the weekend. I find it relatively easy to hold off during the week knowing that I can really enjoy it (ie. guilt-free) on the weekend.
Banana smoothie.
1-1/2 cups vanilla lowfat yogurt 1/2 cup orange juice 1/4 cup Wheat Germ, any flavor 1 large ripe banana, peeled and sliced* 1 Tbsp. honey (optional) 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
Classic post hammerhead! I just spit out my 2nd cup of coffee from laughter!

You’re really mocking the definition of the word “dessert”. That sounds more like punishment to me.
Jodi, maybe moderation is for you. How much are you eating if it is making that big of a dent in your caloric intake?
I eat a tablespoon on each piece of toast. I use either all natural from the healthfood store or use Almond butter. YUM!
A chef told me a great way to reduce the calories in peanut butter…but you have to buy the organic stuff or the PB from the health food store.
Let it seperate (oil from solids) and pour out the oil. Mix in condensed SKIM milk. YOu get the creamyness and cut the fat.
Sorbet. Last night I had Ben and Jerry’s “Jamaica me Crazy.” It was awesome.
yes, moderation is the key to a healthly life, I suppose. Unfortunately, I am totally in love with the stuff! I have been known to have PB for breakfast on toast, and for dinner (PB&J), with a little more for a snack. Always the natural stuff though.
My problem with the milk solution is that I don’t like to refrigerate my peanut butter (and I’m lactose intolerant). It makes it hard to spread, and also, with 2 roommates fridge space is at a premium!
I’ll give in and be back on the crack in no time, hopefully in smaller quantities.
Jodi
Kokosboller, or “danish flødeboller”, mmmm:
