thinking about going the wheelcover route for a poor man’s disk; in my mind, putting a cover on a Ksyrium makes more sense than putting one on a Zipp 404, even though stand alone, the Zipp is faster. Am i missing something ? Also, guess i might be willing to go the Renn route, thoughts on a Renn vs. cover ? thanks,
I have mine on a Mavic CXP 33 rim. One thing I’ve noticed is that it’s difficult to use electrical tape instead of the fasteners because there is little room between the rim and the cover. On a deeper rim there is plenty of space to apply the tape. Note: the fasteners work well and I have not had any problems with them. the tape just looks a little cleaner. That said, I love the cover and think it’s a great low cost option and one of the best aero values out there.
come on you all, what do you think ?
You already got your answer. The Mavic CXP33 is a perfect rim for the job. I would have it 32 - 3x spokes to a very nice hub. Other than that - there is no need for more information. Get yourself a good spoked wheel (not some boutique fragile wheel) and go ride.
As R10C said. The CXP 33 works great. I have it exactly like he says- 32 spoke laced to a Chris King hub. Reasonably light and very durable. Got them as a set from Excel Sports in Boulder.
