I was a Cytomax guy for a long time and since they discontinued it I’ve been searching for a good replacement. I like keeping my nutrition separate from my hydration so not really looking to go all in one. What’s your fave?
Whatever they are serving on the course for my next big event. Train on what you race on, and be prepared to live off the course.
I too was a HUGE Cytomax fan!
I also used to love Cytomax. Now I prefer Skratch Labs lemon lime or Gatorade Endurance. If it’s really hot I’ll supplement with some extra sodium citrate. I also like to experiment with homemade concoctions. Sugar + regular Gatorade powder + sodium citrate is good. I also just tried some honey + Nesquick + sodium citrate. The nice thing about homemade is you can dial in the carb and sodium content to your liking, but it’s certainly a bit more work to mix it all together. I typically train with both on course nutrition and homemade.
Gatorade powder for every day stuff and Infinit Speed or hot weather mix for triathlons.
Skratch - the regular hydration mix for easier, longer sessions and the superfuel for racing.

This^^ I do my best to train with what I know will be at the race. If I know I have the option I train and race with Hammer stuff, but also intentionally mix in a bunch of different products (food and drink) during training because I don’t want to freak out on raceday if I can’t get my “perfect” drink.

Gatorade powder. Then whatever is on coarse, adding some energy gels if it is a full distance tri. Never had a stomach issue.
Hey Michael, Just out of curiosity why do you keep the two separate? I feel like I’m trying to reduce my total weight by keeping them combined, but always interested in learning other options

Defizzed Kroger brand coke and mtn dew; even with recent inflation, these are still only $0.89 per 2 liters and 100-130 cal/8 oz. I’ve never felt the need for extra sodium during training but rather just salt my regular food when eating. Last time I did some calculations, this defizzed cola/mtn dew was about 1/3 to 1/4 of the cost of Gatorade, etc.
New favorite is Pedialyte Frozen Berry powder packets.
LMNT is my electrolyte of choice. Tastes great. 1000mg/200mg/60mg/0mg (sodium/potassium/magnesium/sugar)
I, too, separate my hydration and nutrition. After flatting early during Boulder and laying my bike down to replace the tube, my all-in-one BTA drink spilled out completely. Replacing the fluid was easy at the aid stations but the nutrition was impossible to replace. Made for a death-march on the run.
