Been talking with a variety of Trek shops, here is what I am being told:
TTX’s availability
1- TTX is sold out, only the aluminum equinox is available
2- no TTX’s are available, period
3- may be able to order a TTX via project one, but not sure
SPEED CONCEPT availability
4- speed concept will be announced during Tour de France
5- speed concept will be available in July
6- speed concept will be available in Sept
7- speed concept will be available in two years, but not now
8- speed concept will be about the same price points as TTX
9- speed concept will be slightly cheaper than TTX
10- speed concepts are being stockpiled at the factory for bulk release this summer
TRI BIKES ON DISPLAY
11- no one has seen a speed concept locally
12- speed concept will be on display at our store next month
13- speed concept will be on display at a regional PR blast at park in May
Ok, Store staff does not have a reliable picture of what is happening
with Trek Tri bikes. Anyone hearing different rumors, or even better, have
reliable information. I would like to buy a tri bike this year, but this messaging
is confusing the purchasing decision.
It seems odd to me that they’d totally abandon the TTX without brining something into the entry level TT market. The Speed Concept seems awesome, but doesn’t seem to be what will entice the entry or mid level markets toward Trek. Not that it effects me since I’d be buying a Felt or Cervelo TT bike anyway.
my old college roommate’s former girlfriend’s dad is a designer for Trek…He says that they are secretly giving free Speed Concepts to anyone who becomes a fan of their Facebook page and posts “Lance is awesome.”…

I have a feeling they might be making an entry level version of the SC. There is a picture floating around of Andrew Yoder’s SC, and it does not have the integrated fork stem setup like on Lieto’s and Lance’s rigs. It looks like a standard stem and head tube with the SC mold. It did appear to have the front brakes hidden in the fork, but I actually couldn’t tell from the angle.
Perhaps they will have lower models of the SC using the same frame mold. Sort of like the Felt B16 vs B2 vs DA.

I posted about this last night. The Trek store in Boulder actually had 2 on display for awhile. Chris Lieto’s crazy decaled bike and Julie Dibbens Clearwater bike.

The SC and Shiv were two on my very short list of bikes to order. Specialized gave fairly detailed responses and when detail wasn’t available they promised to update me as soon as they could (they followed through btw) but what I got from Trek dealers was similar to your story. Finally, I contacted Trek directly and didn’t fare much better. Basically they said they were running at max to fill the Madone orders but more info would be released about the SC later this summer. I asked what that meant and he dismissed me (in not the friendliest tone) and said “just what I said, more info would be released later this summer.” I didn’t bother an attempt to get more info and ordered a Shiv. Maybe they were busy, maybe it was a one off but I hate bad customer service. No Treks for me in the near future.

That is how they get they get the fit correct. Someone had some pictures of Yoder in Oceanside and he had the integrated fork stem during the race.
