What's the smallest chainring set I can put on a 130mm crank?

And where can I get them. I have a 130mm, 53/39 FSA Carbon crank from 2003 on my Tri bike. Since buying and riding my new road bike with a SRAM Rival 50/38 and an 11-25 cassette, I’m thinking I’d really like that on my Tri bike.

What’s the smallest I can get to fit on the 130mm bolt pattern? Where can I get them? Want to go cheap as I’ll be upgrading to a new bike in the next year or so.

Thanks,

Mercer

38, should be able to fine them at any online bike store
.

38 is the smallest ring supported for 130mm BC. A 50x38 is very doable.

Really, I can get a 50/38? Do you have a source?

Lots of options. They typically come individually (i.e. you buy the 38T and 50T a-la-carte).

These guys are really great and have an excellend source of rings.

You can also get a 46 on the outer ring from Shimano. It’s a super sweet DA ring. Course, it’s practicality outside of cyclocross is questionable.

You can also run an inner ring as an outer ring, so conceivably you could run a 38/39  Might be a bit redundant though. I have run a 38/44 for 'cross.

Is there a height limit to participate in this thread ;0)

Just made the switch last week. $30 for a 38t FSA chainring on EBay. Nice change…not quite a compact, but an improvement for climbing. I personally like 53/38 better than 53/39. Have used the combo with both 11-23 and 11-25 and it works well.

I have a 52T and 38T (130mm BCD)rings sitting around; PM me if interested.

Not to thread-jack but when you’re going from flat terrain to hilly terrain, do you find it easier to change your cassette or your chainrings? I am considering sticking with a 110BCD crank and 11-23 cassette and just changing out the chainrings as needed. What do you guys recommend? I am currently running 52/38 chainrings for rolling terrain but am considering the purchase of both a 36t and a 54t for hilly (52/36) and flat terrain (54/38). If you think this is the way to go, where do you get a 53T in 110BCD? Sram doesn’t seem to make one.
