What's the Protocol on Sort of Banditing an Ironman Bike?

I’ve been in Louisville for almost a week and just realized Ironman Boulder was tomorrow. I brought my bike with me and have been riding Diagnol Highway in the evening and planned on getting in a ride tomorrow. Is it the worst thing in the world if I’m on part of the bike course tomorrow? Obviously won’t touch aid stations, draft, etc. Just looking to get a ride in.

man up and bandit the run. you really think you will not obstruct people in some way? some of these courses are narrow and get packed.

Only be on the course if you’re before the first athlete, or after the last.

Otherwise stay the hell out.

(Disclaimer: I’m former race bandit police).

there is way better rides from Boulder than the IM course, for example Left hand canyon towards Ward or Carter lake loop starting from Tom Watson Park. or Coal Creek Canyon.

Stay off the course. Ride olde stage to left hand canyon to ward and back.

Only be on the course if you’re before the first athlete, or after the last.

Otherwise stay the hell out.

I’m contemplating going out at day break or just finding another route. The only part I was going to “bandit” was the stretch along Diagnol Highway.

I don’t mind climbing Olde Stage I just don’t like descending it  (flat lander here) I think I’m just going to get up at the ass crack of dawn and do my planned ride on Diagnol before anyone is out on the bike course.

Ride up olde stage and when you’re almost at the top you can stop at my house and grab a brandy to calm your nerves for the descent.

I don’t get it. Are you in L’ville or Boulder?
Either way, don’t be a dick.

Louisville/Interlachen Parkway but the only bike routes I’m familiar with in the area are near the reservoir. I think I have something mapped out closer to my hotel for tomorrow morning. I’m going to leave the race’s bike course alone and just plan on spectating the run course in the afternoon.

There’s a Louisville (pronounced Lew-iss-vill) right by Boulder.

If you don’t want me on the course stop making my goddamn doorstep part of the course.

Signed,
somebody who lived downtown where a ton of races went along 3 sides of my block…and largely disrupted my common running & routes, as well.

Almost none of the race is on diagonal, maybe 1/3 of a mile. But I suggest trying to get in some time on Lefthand, it’s fantastic

Why you’d ride that boring course and not up the canyon or something is beyond me. I miss those rides. Monneapolis is too flat.
