What's that rattle in my Kestrel frame?

When going over rough patches of road there is a very distinct rattling that seems to be coming from the aft part of my top tube. It is there whether I’m pedaling or not, and seems to be damped when I grab the top tube near the seat post but not forward by the head tube. The bike is a fairly new Kestrel Talon. I’m thinking it might be something to do with the internal cable routing. Any thoughts on what this might be and how to fix it. I’ll probably just take it into the shop but if there is something easy I can do at home, I’m all ears.

Thanks,
Keith

Something is amiss…probably with your brake cable, as you suspect. I’ve had a couple of internal rattles on my Talon SL. In each instance it was a cable. A quick adjustment quickly fixed the problem.

Yes, I would assume internal cables based on my experience. The noise can be very disturbing and hard to troubleshoot. Mine just magically stopped at one point.

If I could ask, what was the adjustment?
