Given that the tires (tubulars) are identical. What is faster?
A Cervelo S3 with Zipp 404s
or…
a Giant TCR Advanced SL road bike with Zipp 808s
I race on the road and mainly crits. Am going to start TTing next year so the 808s would be a good investment. I already have a powermeter, if that is the first reply!
Well given the giant is made from carbon 2x4’s, i’d suggest the cervelo would be faster against the wind

Quite true, the downtube is rather plank-like!
For crits or for a TT?
Are you putting aerobars on these bikes, can you get a good aero position?
Race first, worry about wheel upgrades after you do some races. Maybe better investment would be a TT bike.
I race a lot of crits.
If its mainly for crits and such and you want to use them for the rare TT, go with 404’s.
That’s what I was thinking. I currently ride the Giant with 404s, and was considering selling the Giant frame for an S3 frame or selling the 404s for 808s.
Think I’ll stick to what I’ve got.
