Whats a reasonable stem length range?

For bike fit - whats a reasonable stem length range? I’d guess something like 80 mm - 120 mm would be best and much above/below that isn’t so good…

There is a recommended range, usually about 80-130mm AFAIK.

If the stem is too short the bike handling is twitchy, if too long it becomes sluggish.

If you’re playing around with stems outside the 80-130 range in order to get a bie fit, it more than likely means that you’ve got the wrong size frame.

A short person will go on the short end of that range and a tall person will go on the long end of that range. People with long or short torsos versus the norm finding themselves picking the extremes.

I had a 130 on my road bike for the last season, it was a bit to long, I am back to a 110.

80-130 is common. Go to a bike shop when stems are on sale, usually they sell out of the 110s first :frowning:
