What was he thinking? Hot tub before a race!

Does anyone else use a hot tub before a race??

I would never. I’ve ice bathed to wake the legs up. The hot tub leaves me too relaxed, fatigued almost.

Thoughts?

Totally depends on how long you sit in it.Long enough to warm up your muscles is great, just like a very hot shower on a cold morning before a training session. The older you get the better it seems to be…

Could lead to dehydration as well. Probably best to skip until after the race.

I honestly have no clue if this is right but this totally sounds like something Lionel would do?

Its in his videos. He hits the hot tub every night, including before race day, apparently.

If I recall, he mentioned it’s to help with knee tednonitis? Started doing it really helped, became a daily routine.

Habitual

I see what you did there

I always understood prior heat stress of muscles didn’t benefit the contractile properties of skeletal muscle fibers? I couldn’t think of anything worse than sitting in the tub and then trying to turn the pedals.

Isn’t that how Jean Paul missed the start of the NYC marathon?

ive made the mistake of getting in a hot tub shortly after a half distance. never again. blood pressure and everything is already out of whack, a hot tub just makes it worse.
