What training log do you use?

Who uses what software for logging multi-sport training? Anything compatable with PT?

Hrmph!

This is my preferred training log:

Primarily developed for running, but very flexible and adaptable to multi-sport. Free and web-based.

A two dollar weekly planner…sure it doesnt add everything up for you but it gets the job done…making me feel guilty if i dont see enough exercise on it.

I have been testing Trainingpeaks, however after writing up my 06 annual training plan draft in Excel, and already using Cyclingpeaks, I may just dump TP

I like to see my whole year in one glance, and edit on the fly, as with excel

TP takes more work, but is quite geeky if you are into that kind of thing

None. I use the squeeze-in-a ride-where-and-when-you-can method.

This week:

  • cycled 90 minutes on Tuesday night after work. Looks like that will be the only “Training” for me until Sunday morning. I hope to get out for a couple hour ride then.

cyclingpeaks is great with the powertap but for multisport might be a bit lacking. I have found that Polar’s software gives me a good log and I just input the useful data from cyclingpeaks for my cycling stuff.

Great!

Keep it rolling!

Still wont be any help to me. If I get two rides in this week, it will be a good week. When I head out for those rides, it’s me, the road, the bike and the wind in my face. That’s all I care about.

I don’t use one. My running friends used to call them “guilt-books”.

I have used the Athletes Diary for over 10 years, simple but great program

Over at BeginnerTriathlete.com they have a pretty good setup. Basic use is free but if you pay you get more expanded features and help Ron (I think?) support the site. Anyone else use this one?

I log all of my training in an Excel spreadsheet.

I’m partial to the one at www.runningforums.com.

guilt can be a great motivator. Most of the time I love to train and if I don’t I am unhappy with the lack of endorphins but sometimes I just don’t want to get out there and I guilt myself into doing it. A few hours later I thank myself for it 100% of the time.

I started that this year as well as I started running/swimming. TP is great for cycling, but that’s it. I use it still, and pull some key stats from it and plunk them into my spreadsheet (i.e., my 20 min peak power).

I use the software that came with my Polar 720. It downloads workout duration, time, date and heart rate etc. I fill in the diary section with notes on objectives average watts etc. I am looking into using Cycling Peaks to better analyze the bike. I just need to find the right USB adapter.

there’s an excel spreadsheet one on gordo’s website. I used that one and modified it.

I’ve been using the Polar software for the last couple of years too. However, I’m looking at getting a PT and am leaning heavily towards the cycling peaks software - especially since I’ve found out it can be used for data from other sports.

Have a look on their website for compatible USB adapters - try the wattage list on topica and the power forum on cycling forums too.
