What to do- World LD Champs and World STD Champs

So I’ve been selected for NZ age group team to compete at World Standard Distance Champs in Hamburg, Germany at the end of August. I’m competing in World Long Distance Champs at beginning of July and will be in France until at least 25 July (at this stage). Previously, I have thought doing both would be nigh on impossible. A friend who is doing world long distance champs and then Ironman UK mid August is english and has a house over there. She has offered me free accomodation if I want to stay over there (she is the one who suggested I do both races) She has also said that we could both do temp/contract work over there for a lil bit for cash, so obviously I’d need a working holiday visa.

She will be coming back to NZ sometime in September. Anyway I’m currently unemployed (was on a one year contract and when that finished I took the chance to train full time for ironman nz, have been looking for work since and am making shortlists for positions in my chosen career, but people with more experience are being chosen ahead of me) and it seems my parents might be able to help me out. I am reluctant to take them up on that given that they are helping me get to France in the first place and I already owe them a bit of money for some stuff…

So…what do people think I should do? Advice/tips?

Opportunity of a lifetime? (I was in Lausanne last year as well)

you may want to change your title.

Think about what connotations STD has… I wouldn’t want to be at THOSE championships!!

haha…I did that on purpose!..hmm if only triathlons were veritable orgies.

First up congrats man that’s awesome. As to what to do, well I would suggest if you can do both go for it. In saying that don’t do both if financially it’s not viable. Sit down, work it out with everyone involved and hopefully in the end you’ll be able to come to a sensible decision.
