use a tint yes, I would go with dark mirror. The sun is not a particular factor, but dark/mirror is no issue so just go with that
Use tinted - you won’t ever come out of the water thinking that it was too dark
If I remember correctly, the sun rises over the mountains on your left heading out, and will be on your right coming back. You won’t have an issue with it shining directly in your eyes in any direction
Last time I was there I used the R-1’s in “COBALT Mirror lenses” and have a specific note in my race report that these worked awesome for the conditions of the early morning light.
yellow really made the buoys pop and the water seem a little clearer, but they didn’t provide as much tint on the way back.
I would use yellow non mirrored again, but it was a bit bright
I use polarized for swimming in Hawai’i. I don’t particularly like dark tint though.

personally I’d go dark grey mirror but I have really sensitive eyes. Cobalt mirror would be my #2 choice.

If the cobalt are too light I can always pick up a pair of the dark grey at the expo.
