I really like reading the articles (and pictures) in the tri mags of what the pro’s ride and use during a race. Do any of you know of a website that has compiled this information into one place?
I don’t know of any, but, if there is sufficient interest, I’m sure we could add that feature to THIS site… Please respond if you have some interest in this sort of thing…
ABSOLUTELY! Not that I can EVER afford the stuff they use. I’m always psyched to read about something one-off as well…like when a pro gets a new carbon cage made for their der. or something.
That’d be awesome. I always find it interesting to see how pros are set up, what they are riding and especially some of their own personal tricks/components.

The funny thing is that a LOT of AG athletes have far nicer rigs than most pros. Suer there are the few top guys who get custom one-off this and that, but your average pro is just worried about earning enough to buy food - not whether that new carbon bottle cage is going to save him any time over 112.
I was talking about a derailleur cage, not a bottle cage.
And yes, there are some AG out there with some killer bikes, and I like to see those as well. But it’s interesting to me how a few minor changes the pros do can save them so much time.
Real pros ride PINK bikes

.
www.cyclingnews.com has a Tech section and they often review pro bikes.

True.
I would actually like to know what the pros are wearing, riding, eating, drinking, etc.
I am sure I would not be able to afford most of it. But, I am a tech geek and would just like to look and dream of doing what they do.
If it could be arranged that would be great.
I’ve always enjoyed seeing what equipment & apparel they use and enjoy whenever this type of info is published.
I agree, I think a thread or feature like this would be great. I especially like hearing what the pro’s or even top AGers use for nutrition on bikes and during run; what and when they are taking it. I have emailed a Bryan Rhodes and he told me exactly what he took on the bike and run and when during his last race at IM70.3 in Fl.
That kind of stuff is always exciting to hear…
yes I would be extremely interested in what the pro’s ride, not least because it can help show what gear combinations are required for certain positions on certain bikes. I.e. If SOMEBODY is sponsored with your bike, then you can figure out what they are using to accomplish x, y,z…etc.
Very useful IMO.
heck - most of the folks on ST are on bikes with more Bling than what many of the pro’s ride!!

Why the assumption that the “few minor changes” are saving them time? They aren’t fast because they have tweaked their setup. They are fast because they can hold 290w for 4.5hrs. In many cases their knowledge of geeky equipment stuff is dwarfed by the AGrs on this board.

i am more curious as to why so many STers think that an apostrophe is used to make pro plural.
pro’s is actually acceptable in this case to indicate the omission of the missing letters (in the contraction from professionals)…
Because we might think they just mis-spelled “prose”? ![]()

To true. Though you should be careful no to let the pro’s secrete out that its not about the bike and to go fast you have to train lots and lots ![]()
…and did a good job of selecting their parents…
