What song do you want to hear at your IM finish?

This one is real easy:
List three songs that you would like to hear when you finish IM. Iron Man counts if you have no imagination. What songs would have you jumping up and down?
I will go first

  1. All these things that I have done - The Killers
  2. Paradise City - GNR
  3. Brand New Cadillac- The Clash

The Final Countdown - Europe. Ala GOB on Arrested Development…

The A-Team theme song
.

Once In A Lifetime - Talking Heads
.

Songs that would be awesome if they were playing (would require Radio Mixs of some of the songs due to language):

Know Your Enemy - Rage Against the Machine
Killing In the Name Of - Rage Against the Machine
Going the Distance - Cake
Send the Pain Below - Chevelle
The Clincher - Chevelle
Get Some - Chevelle
Another Know It All - Chevelle
Don’t Fake This - Chevelle
Bodies - Drowning Pool
Alive - Pearl Jam
Give It All - Rise Against
Good Left Undone - Rise Against
To Them These Streets Belong - Rise Against
Paper Wings - Rise Against
Swing Life Away - Rise Against
The Dirt Whispered - Rise Against
Savior - Rise Against
Destroyer - Static-X
Dirthouse - Static-X
Beverly Hills - Weezer
Cold - Breaking Benjamin
Ladies and Gentlemen - Saliva
My Own Worst Enemy - Lit
.

I’ve done 17 IMs…you can check out any time…but you cannot leave…Eagles, Hotel California
.

Slayer bc nothing says Thank God I’m done with this IM better then Slayer
.

The problem is that being done with this IM means that you just signed up the day before to come back to the same event next year…you can check out any time you like…but you can never leave.

I’m going to see if I can extract myself from the endless cycle after my 10th IMLP this Year (or I guess, extract myself the day before…)

Some of us are waaaaay to smart to be signing up for every IM that rolls around.

From the original Rocky soundtrack the instumental “Going the Distance”. It ends with a bell tolling twelve times.

Yup, I’m an older guy.

I don’t remember hearing any of the songs that played whenever I crossed the finish line, barely heard my name for that matter. I do remember one year at IMLP seeing my wife enter the oval from Main St just as “Thunderstruck” by AC/DC was beginning and thinking “Cool, she’ll have an awesome song to finish to”.

Top pick: Legs - ZZ Top “She’s got legs, and she knows how to use them.”

Good luck this weekend!

“It’s Over” - Roy Orbitson
.

It’s kind of schlocky, but I wouldn’t mind hearing that Dave Cook song “Time of My Life.” Especially the last verse where he sings:

I’ll taste every moment
And live it out loud
I know this is the time,
This is the time to be
More than a name
Or a face in the crowd
I know this is the time
This is the time of my life
Time of my life
More than a name
Or a face in the crowd
I know
This is the time
This is the time of my life.
This is the time of my life.

I’m not a big American Idol fan, but that song seems to be something you’d want to hear at a race as long as an ultra, at least to me. Now, I must get back to listening to the new AC/DC album (Black Ice) to reaffirm my rocker cred (hahaha!) T.

I dont have a song, but just a question about IM finishing?

I was watching the Kona finishes, and I never heard “XXX you are an ironman”.

I thought the announcer will call out your name every time and say you are an ironman(atleast ppl told me that is what happens at a finish). I just heard the announcer call out your number/name.

I heard them say on a number of times “XXX YOU are an Ironman!” Sometimes, when you had 4 or 5 racers all hitting the chute at the same time, it got a little dicey, but they tried their best.

T.

Frank Sinatra - My Way.

You’re so vain, Carly Simon
.

I absolutely want to hear:

Rick Astley–Never Gonna Give You Up (i.e. the Rickroll song)

Why? 1. I actually kinda like it! 2. I love making other people listen to it

For the many folks finishing in front of me, Elevator Music (or is it Muz-zak?) with the hopes that it lulls their tired bodies into a gentle slumber so that I can tipoe around all the snoozing athletes and nab a Kona slot.

As for when I’m finishing, Newsboys “I Am Free”, Tom Petty “Running Down a Dream”, Surfari’s “Wipeout” or The Champs “Tequila” as I try my best Pee Wee Herman dance across the line.
