Not being able to try a wetsuit on before buying - I would like to know what size/brand/model I should go for…
I’m new to long distance triathlon (have been doing sprints since 2002), and have a 70.3 this year, and a full distance next year.
My old custom fit wetsuit is now to small, and also broken in some places.
Now my problem is, that I don’t fit any of the sizing charts on the internet.
I’m 194 centimeters, and will get down to around 78-79 kilos, maybe less (sorry for the metric), I come with a swimming background and will most likely be FOP swimmer, at least in the AG category.
It’s a two piece so you can get different sizes for top and bottom. Much better suited to many people. Order your best approximation of the size. If you order the wrong size in either top or bottom, they’ll swap it with the right size. Their customer service is tops.
Have you looked at Aqua Sphere? While I do work for Aqua Sphere and could be considered it a bit biased by that fact, the Phantom is the best fit that I have found yet. Actually the entire line (Pursuit, Racer, and Phantom) fit me like a glove. I like my suit to fit really tight, and this does just that without constricting my movement the slightest bit. In fact the range of motion I have in these suits is unparalleled as well.
I am 75inches or 190.5cm and weigh about 180lbs or 81kg. I wear an ML and honestly haven’t had a suit fit me this well before. I have a swimmers build, and have tried a lot of suits on and swam in almost everything out there.
Of course every suit will fit different people in different ways, but the new Aqua Sphere suits are a superb fit.
We are also available worldwide.
If you need help finding a suit, I’d be happy to help.
Unless you try on multiple suits, you’ll never know if you have a good fit or not. You need to compare as there are very noticeable differences in the fit, flex, etc.
I thought I had a tough time finding a wetsuit size (I’m 6’1", 165), but not like you. An MT from 2XU looks like it would fit you: http://www.2xu.com/sizecharts.html
I can’t vouch for their suits, although they look nice.

True, but trying on dry wetsuits at a store is a very poor way to judge how a suit will fit when you and the suit are totally wet. In the end, you gotta trust the seller’s size charts, at least to get started.
Emilio De Soto here. We make T1 Wetsuits, the only two-piece triathlon wetsuit on the market.
You can learn all about the T1 Wetsuit on our website at www.desotosport.com. We also have a T1 Instructional Video for viewing just a few clicks from our homepage. Simply click on T1 Wetsuits, then on Video. Just click on the Play Icon! It is only 6 minutes long and will probably answer a lot of questions for you.
Whether it is a complete T1 Wetsuit combination or a single piece, we want you to know that we take great pride in making sure all our customers are fitted into the correct size. In order to do this it would be most helpful if you would provide us with as much of the following information as you are comfortable providing:
HEIGHT
WEIGHT
CHEST (circumference measured at the nipple line) IF YOU ARE MALE
BUST (and cup size) IF YOU ARE FEMALE
WAIST (circumference measured at the belly-button line)
HIPS (circumference measured at the widest point, not just at your hips)
Since we do not know what you look like we use all the above information to determine the best size for you. All the above is for fitting purposes only and the information is kept completely confidential.
If you are buying a 2013 T1 Wetsuit (First Wave, Concept 5, Black Pearl, Espresso, or Speed Collection), we offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee. You buy the suit, you test it out for 15 days from the day you receive it, and if you are not happy with it, we will exchange it for a size that fits better, or we will give you complete refund…your choice…no questions asked. This same guarantee applies if you are buying it from one of our authorized dealers, but the refund is through them.
If I can answer any other questions for you, please send me an email.
