…to get a bit more recognition?
two Kona podiums in a row, both times under 8:10, and not a single thread dedicated to him.

Honestly, if he wants more recognition or discussion, he would have to change his sponsors and his personality. It doesn’t seem like he’s looking for the attention.
He’s had two great performances in Kona back to back but other races he’s had some bad luck so he remains under the radar.
Get 3rd about 5 more times, and look like Fernanda Keller in a Brazilian cut suit…
Go vegan and bonk in his next race.

That pretty much sums it up - bad luck this year in a couple of big races. I really like him, though. Understated, and transparent with his weaknesses. And dry humour
He obviously knows how to race within himself on the bike, as he’s so consistent on the run. I think he really needs that extra bit on the bike though - if he races an IM with a fast bike, everyone will take notice, as he can run pretty much as well as Lange.
Although we are a sport of three sports, it’s generally the fast bikers that dominate headlines.
Cervelo paying him to ride their bike would be the first thing that should be done. None of their pros are contenders and he just went 3rd at Kona two years in a row. Or move to a sponsor that still has a fast bike but at least throws him some bones.

Lol!!!
Leading the race is what tends to help get attention. Coming off the bike in 19th and slowing running through the field to 3rd doesn’t seem to get people excited. You get zero TV coverage. People also really get behind athletes that go for broke and take risks, which favours top swimmers and bikers.
Blitzing the bike, leading the race and a DNF gets far more TV coverage and more excitement. Look how much attention solo break aways get in the Tour, even if they get caught. You even get an award in the tour for being the most attacking rider. You don’t get an award for having the most evenly paced performance.
If you can’t do any of that then you just have to be a larger than life character or create controversy.

Haha!
He needs to become an uberbiker to get any love around here!
The dude’s got some charisma, so if he starts getting attention I would think he’d gain momentum pretty fast. I thought his post-Kona Breakfast with Bob interview was one of the better ones.

Why would he want more recognition on a triathlon board where people sit behind their computers and tell him what he’s doing wrong?

Get her PhD and win the women’s race?

It would certainly allow him to do badly at future Ironman World Championships brought to you by Amazonnnnnnn.
He needs to be a flailing dipshit so he can steal the SlowTwitch boner from LS

I listened to his BwB post race interview and thought he was funny and really likeable! I also thought he should get more exposure, but perhaps he doesn’t want or need it? I don’t know.
I do agree with the other poster who commented that his style at Kona, isn’t the sexiest and therefore doesn’t get much camera time (until the closing miles when he has run through the field). That definitely doesn’t help him, but if he ran right up for the win, then of course, that’d change!

i suspect you may be on to something there.
Spot on as usual +1
