He announced it on his social media weeks ago. He sees his future in a coaching environment in Holland.

Given that he has been a staple at Dutch team training camps for a few years (and we’ve seen with other tri-couples from different federations, they may train together, but not at official federation camps), I was not surprised at this at all. It probably would have happened last year, if it hadn’t been for the Olympics being pushed back and his cardiac issues.

His veteran presence could be good for some of their younger athletes coming up, and he’ll certainly have more competitive opportunities in the mixed relay with the Dutch.

Good on him. Much more opportunity in Europe.

I like his videos with Rachel. Those two seem like top notch people.
