I think that your video highlights something that I realized the other day.
(This isn’t aimed at you, your video just reminded me).
We evaluated lighting products up close. We hold that tail light up in front of our face and burn our retinas.
We say “Ooo Aaa, look at the cool patterns”…
But that’s not how they’re utilized during activity.
I’ve become more concerned with the viewing angle. Rarely is the car directly behind us (fortunately!) but many lights are most visible in that manner. Fast or intricate strobe patterns are exciting in the store, but less effective than a slower blink in the dark environment they’re used in (and less seizure inducing). Blinky lights look cool, but too many blinks becomes confusing.
I searched for the Amphipod vest, all the pictures are close up.
I watched the video on the Tracer website: The subjects all took up the entire screen.
We tend to be dazzled up close and personal.
