They really nailed it with Dune. With the combination of a bigger budget and better special effects (as well as good acting, writing, directing) they were able to take a kinda bad 80’s movie and nail it
Got me thinking, what movies would you like to see remade?

Really, Dune?? I lost a couple hours of my life on that movie that I will never get back. Wonder around the desert, then, wonder around the desert a little more, the end. It was horrible.

Definitely thought it was better than the original. I thought part 1 dragged a bit, but it left me wanting to see part 2. Waiting until it comes out on streaming.
Dunkirk, Schindler’s List, The Pianist, and Enemy at the Gates are all rebooting in 2025. I hope to read your reviews for all of them.
I look forward to a reboot of Enemy at the Gates. The Russian sniper with the heavy English accent was hard to overcome. I enjoyed the movie because I love those old sniper rifles. I’ve owned a Mosin 91/30, just not the sweet scoped sniper.
I am mostly in agreement with slowguy. I’d much prefer new material. However, it also seems fun to respond to the asked question.
I don’t think rebooting a classic movie, a cult classic, anything from a ‘top ten’ director or top ‘A-list’ actor is a wise idea. It’s unlikely to be done any better than this first time. A little surprised Guy Ritchie would try and reboot a Kubrick.
I am thinking a reboot candidate is a decent movie from the past that just can’t stand the test of time. A movie I enjoyed, but I know my kids would not.
One that comes to mind is ‘The Big Chill’. Reboot with a modern ensemble cast and current awesome soundtrack. It’s likely I would not like the movie, but a younger generation may.

I don’t think Guy Ritchie (or anyone) doing a new version of A Clockwork Orange would be trying to redo Kubrick, but taking a newer look at the novel, instead
I wouldn’t particularly call any new release of a movie based on Frankenstein, Dracula, Pride & Prejudice, or Emma a “reboot”
