Does it say on the tag?
I’d say a “Classic”.
No it doesn’t. It’s on consignment and the shop isn’t certain. Just trying to price what it’s worth.
It looks like the Tuscany with the curved seat stays.
Any idea what it should go for? Derailleurs have about 1k miles I’m told and are ultegra. 105 shifters are new
Lynskey put curved seat stays on a lot of his road bikes. The Ultimate starting around 2000 had radial curves as did the Vortex. If you want to go hunting and find a SN maybe you get lucky an someone at ABG helps you out? Early Litespeeds had SN’s on the RD hanger and then I want to say my mid 90’s Ultimate it was on the bb shell? Good luck and enjoy if you get it!
As far as price goes that’s a tough one: LBS vs open market. A buddy picked up a late 90’s Ultimate with DA 9 speed down in Miami back around the fall time frame for $6-700? Thing doesn’t have a scratch just flawless. Likely to pay 2x that in a shop for the same thing. I’d imagine he wants close to $1,500?
That could be an Arenberg, and likely is. So a very entry level bike. But nothing wrong with that. Difficult to tell because the decals look like they were added on after.
$1000

$1000
Wow as long as everything is ship shape I say win! I have had 3 different Lynskey built Litespeed road frames and a Tachyon(which was actually road geo too he just curved the seat tube and called it a tt frame) and loved them all. Quite honestly they all felt the same, had the same geo etc. Love them. Have fun1
If it has a 1" head tube then I’d pass.
My 2008 tachyon was the only bike I’ve sold, than I tried to buy back. LOVED that bike but got sucked into the carbon thing and had 5 bikes since then…
It also says 3al-2.5v on the seat tube if that helps at all
.
That’a a Firenze.
I ride that exact model. The stickers match the ones I have on my bike. What is missing is the “Firenze” sticker that should be on the top tube, closer to the HT.
That Reynolds fork matches the one that came with mine, also.
FWIW, I love the ride of mine.
He is correct.

Was the original Tachyon a 650C bike?
I recall coveting one back in the early/mid 90’s. My choice was a Tachyon, a Slingshot (both used) or a brand new Steel QR Special Edition from Dan. I got the QR but I would still like both of the others in my growing collection

No it was 700c, curved seat tube. Talk about funny…I owned a purple Slingshot and a USA Superform as well.

I have a late 90’s 55cm Tachyon with 650c. I think you could get it in 650c in even larger sizes.
Great bike, but unfortunately the weld at the seat stay and dropout failed in 09. I was the original owner and still had the receipt.
Unfortunately “Lifetime Warranty” doesn’t mean the same thing to ABG as it does to me.

I got a 57cm Tachyon in 650c in about 1997 or so. Still riding it. Kinda looks funny these days with the small wheels, but it can go fast.
Several years ago I got Ti couplers installed for traveling.

Lifetime warranty. I’ve heard the joke that it means the lifetime of the product, not the owner! LOL. When it fails, clearly that is the end of the products life, so the warranty becomes void.
Ahhhhhhh, lawyers, we have so much to thank them for…NOT!
